Learn more about our sustainability initiatives: How Single Use Plastic Bans in Canada Affect YOUR Business To reduce plastic pollution, the Government of Canada introduced a multi-phase ban on the manufacture, import, and sale of six single-use plastic categories – checkout bags, cutlery, foodservice ware, ring carriers, stir sticks and straws.By the end of 2022, the manufacture and import of these products will be banned. Their sale within Canada will be banned effective December 31, 2023. Manufacturers have already halted production, so product inventory will be limited as soon as January 2023. By then, more sustainable alternatives will be in very high demand, so the time to act is NOW.
